This zero-waste pop-up in Brooklyn will help you live a sustainable lifestyle
While we all agree that we produce too much waste (about 4.5 pounds per day per person in the United States), few of us have truly adopted a waste-free lifestyle on a daily basis. A lot of times, it’s simply because we don’t have enough information and haven’t been educated about ways to reduce waste. That’s where Lauren Singer’s “zero waste” blog comes in.
Along with ecofriendly designer Daniel Silverstein, she’s created a pop-up called Package Free in Brooklyn, that will open from May to July 2017.
The pop-up will sell products that can be reused for life. They either come without packaging or with compostable, recyclable packaging, and each product includes a list of free tips for reducing waste. From reusable coffee mugs to biodegradable bamboo toothbrushes and recyclable razor blades, the store offers a wide range of sustainable products (both sustainable over time and sustainable in the green sense). They will also be selling items in bulk like shampoo and laundry detergent, and tutorials for making your own deodorant and toothpaste.
“The Package Free shop is a place for you to come and learn and discover reusable alternatives to single use disposables. The reason we started this store was because the hardest part to going waste free was finding all the tools you needed to live a sustainable lifestyle in a convenient way.” explain the founders.
It’s good motivation to start taking steps toward having a zero-waste lifestyle and a positive impact on the environment.
